More liberal INSANITY: “Black” chefs fired for preparing “racially insensitive” meal during Black History Month

It seems like in this day and age, everything and the kitchen sink is labeled as “racist” by the politically correct social justice warriors of the left. What’s the most recent thing that the liberals have claimed is “racially insensitive,” you might ask? Lunch served up at New York University.

As reported by the Daily Wire, two Aramark employees have been fired from their positions in food service for preparing what New York University considered to be a racially “insensitive” meal. CBS News noted that the two employees – who were initially reported as being African-American but have since been reported to be white – were fired after a sophomore student complained not only about the “racially insensitive” meal, but also about being “lied to” and ultimately “ignored.”

The meal in question consisted of barbecue ribs, collard greens, watermelon-flavored water, Kool-Aid and mac and cheese.

“Sophomore Nia Harris, who is black, said the head cook dismissed her objections and told her black employees planned the menu,” reported CBS News. “She posted about the menu and her experience on Facebook, saying she ‘was lied to, placated and ignored.’”

In the Facebook post that CBS News referenced in their coverage of the incident, Nia wrote, “This is what it’s like to be a black student at New York University. You go to a dining hall during February and you see ‘Black History Month Meal’ plastered outside the entrance. You walk inside the dining hall only to find ribs, collard greens, and mac and cheese.” The NYU sophomore added that the meal was not only racially insensitive “but just ignorant.”

Granted, it was probably not a very smart idea to serve such a stereotypical meal in honor of Black History Month, and these chefs that originally came up with the idea should have known better. On the flipside, though, this story serves as more proof that the culture of victimization is alive and well on campuses across the country. It is a mentality that has plagued nearly every subgroup of the millennial generation. Young women feel as though they are being oppressed by “toxic masculinity,” young African-Americans feel that they are being ground down by institutionalized racism and an unjust legal system, young members of the LGBT community feel they are being oppressed by the religious right, and so on. (Related: Here are five lies that self-made victims tell themselves.)

In some cases, the culture of victimization is intentionally perpetuated by those on the left so that they can more easily advance their social justice agenda. Last year, the campus news website Campus Reform reported that the “Diversity Leadership Council” at Gustavus Adolphus College admitted to posting racist posters and flyers all across campus as part of what they considered to be a social experiment – oddly enough, they only began to call it a “social experiment” after they were caught.

The signs across campus encouraged “all white Americans” to report “any and all illegal aliens to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement” because of the fact that “they are criminals.” The posters go on to declare that “America is a white nation,” and therefore it is the “civic duty” of white Americans to report illegal aliens to law enforcement. When people started to find out that the Diversity Leadership Council were the ones who had posted the offensive fliers, the group issued a statement in an attempt to get themselves out of the sticky situation they found themselves in, claiming that they were trying to “help educate [their peers] and campus community” about bias. Frankly, the whole story about the “racially insensitive” food that was served at NYU is a non-issue, and rather insignificant compared to the other issues that America currently faces. The culture of victimization, on the other hand, is something that our country needs to address sooner rather than later.
